I have a golden retriever who sheds a lot. Normally, there'll be gatherings of hair all over our house, but you can tell that the pieces of hair came out seperately, and just happened to gather together. But, the past week or so I've been fiding actual chunks of hair around the house. Should I be worried?

My goldens' undercoats will come out in chunks this time of year as the winter coat develops and also again when they blow their winter coats in spring. As long as the coat does not look patchy, all you need to do is give him regular really good grooming until this phase passes.

Its possible that he/she is shedding to make room for the winter coat. My oldest dog will shed in clumps twice a year once around this time and the next is in the spring around april. If you notice any bald spots on your dog thats when you need to worry. Dogs also can shed lots when they are stressed. If you do notice bald spots I suggest you take him/her to see teh vet.

Do you brush the dog regularly? It's not normal for a dog to be shedding that much if you are brushing regulary and feeding good food. Take her to the vet and find out if there is a problem with the thyroid, or something else. Or buy yourself a good vacuum.

"Chunks" of hair is not normal. Especially if you groom the dog alot. Is the dog in the house for the winter? That will throw off the natural shedding. Maybe also try a high quality feed with lamb and rice as the main ingredeint. I had a dobe do that, I got away from the discount store feed and it fixed the problm. Especially wal marts ol roy....Thats trouble!

Since it's summer, my hair goes up an awful lot more.

I like having my bangs/front pieces down, and my hair is almost perfectly straight.

I'm not even getting an inch off the main length, and i don't know if i want side swept/side bangs or any style.

Micha Barton usually threads the light waves. She also has side SWEPT bangs. not side bangs, but side swept so you should start with that. You don't want to over do the curly-ness, so, i suggest you can try sunsilk wavy/curly shampoo. It'll add those 'natural' looking waves. If its not enough, curl a few bits of your hair with a curler on low heat. Ive also noticed that she parts her hair slightly off the center, so you can do that as well. She has very tame hair, and the thickness is perfect. You can achieve this by using hair oils every now and then, and then washing over the weekend. Also, believe it or not, yougurt and bananas will help boost moisture and give you that settled hair without having to thin it.

Get short layers that start and the bottom of your ear lobe, then have them go down. It will look cute if you decide to curl it or whatever. I suggest that you get front bangs like Nelly Furtado, i think that your hair color would look awesome in it! But i think short layers are a definate!

ok i'm getting mixed messages from everyone!!!

my mom says that if i dye my hair platinum blonde, it'll eventually grow back in the natural color.

but then my aunt told me to cut off a piece of my hair now so i can remember the original color because supposedly once u dye it, the original color is distorted forever.

so what's the truth?

No, it will eventually grow back in the original color. However, you won't be able to color the bleached hair to your natural haircolor. What bleach does is it puts holes in the hair shaft. So the hair is damaged, and will take color too much at first, then it fades out because it can't hold on to it.

never listen to "expert eddies" (know it alls) ask a hairdresser!! since i am one ill answer for you. no matter what colour you dye your hair the regrowth (the hair growing through) will always be your natural colour BUT remember that it is new hair so it hasn't had time to naturally lighten with sun,elements and age so it will appear darker. your natural hair on the ends will always be a little (or sometimes a lot) lighter than the roots,if your hair is long you can have a look at the difference in the mirror by holding the ends to your roots. no dye changes your natural colour forever.your natural hair colour can change through stages of your life sometimes such as blonde.as a blonde gets older the hair colour can darken. just remember what ever you decide your root colour will always appear darker.this is an example.

If you have light brown hair and you dye it blonde, the new hair that grows through will appear more a medium brown.

good luck..and by the way don't ever do a blonde yourself.always get it done professionally by a salon or you will regret it.hairdresseres see blonde disasters all the time and the client ends up paying twice as much to try and fix it.

the truth is your hair will always grow back in 2 weeks or a month in that time you can see the root of your natural hair. you can continue to dye the color that you would like or if you decide to go back to your natural color you can buy the color that matches your natural color. the other choice is to let it grow until most of your hair is your natural color and then cut off the rest

When I was in the same situation with my school district (however it was 10 years ago) my friends and I used to color over our blonde chunks with crayola markers. Just DON'T get caught in the rain. I would say temp. LOL! My middle school had to make a rule just like that. I think its because of me, I always dyed my hair with different colors. Now I have my natural hair color with a little bit of faded red in it so its like a somewhat red goldish in the light, and a darker brownish in the shade. Try clip in extensions. You can clip it in and blend it with your hair. Glue would not be such a good idea as it may take your hair out when you remove it.

they make easily removable temporary color extensions. Sort of like a miniature brush that you stick on the roots of your hair. they look just as good as the real thing, but not even a little painful and you take them out at the end of the night.

I have pink highlights. I would not recommend extensions . one of my friends had it don't and they were in pain for days. if you use the brand Crazy colours you have to bleach the streaks that are being put in to show up anyway.

you could always use something non permanent to see if you like it. most brands that tell you that they only last for a week last for a month so be care full with that

Well if you have longer hair and your wanting to try the streaks somewhere in your hair other than the bangs then i say just get some clip in extensions. It would be a lot easier cuz theres no purple or pink hair color that is going to keep the vibriant color that im sure your looking for. all of it is ink works and washes out everytime you wash your hair, so im sure you dont want bleach blonde streaks :(

You would be better with the clip in extentions. You can get them in real hair as well? As your hair is dark your hair would need to be bleached it would be a constant up keep. As the hair molecules in the dyes for pink/purples fade really quickly, better value for money with the clip in. The glue ones don't hurt but not as easy to keep as the clip in as you still need to shampoo blow dry with the glue in and think of it this way be easier to change colours without damaging your own hair

Dying your hair can make it look cool and some times can kill it. For extensions use the clip on ones the other ones WILL Kill your hair and it wont look good when you get old. My boyfriend actually has white nose hair. Just one, to be precise. We've only been going out for a little more than a week so I don't exactly have the guts to ask him or tell him about his white nose hair. So, the other night when we kissed, I opened my eyes during our little session and saw a piece of white hair sticking out of his nose, it's not very visible unless you're like *bam* right in front of his face. While washing my hair in the shower, I combed through it and a few branches of hair was left on thew comb.Then when I gently passed my hands along my hait, a few beanches were left on my hand.Why is this so? They weren't the usual half piece of broken hair, they were long strands! My hair was also relaxed at the end of this january.I am thinking about alot , so can it be stress? Also, my bf is really annoying me, accusing me of doing false things, ...etc....can this have caused an affect on me?

this happened to me about six months ago I was in the shower washing my hair. Then I felt really faint and naseaous and yes it was because of stress and fatigue. I started going to yoga classes to relax myself and anti stress classes. I also started to eat more healthy and take multivitamins. As far as your boyfriend the same thing happened to me and guess what we separated for a while. I got my life together and he got his as well. He was partly the cause of my stress, as well as being out of work and school at the time. We are back together stress free. So basically what I am telling is that you can't please everyone,but yourself in the end.

The right person can pull this off! If you really want it go for it. How about a streak in front? And perhaps not white. Perhaps light brown in an ashy, cool tone (nothing yellowish or orangish). You'll need to see a stylist though.

jet black hair is beautiful i wouldnt touch it, but if you want to add some color maybe some browns but really dark browns. And very thin high lights i think they call them angel hair high lights. It would give your hair a lighter tone and i would be natural looking.

I have pink hair. I dye it every few weeks. What I use is called Manic Panic. Honestly it's amazing. I have been using it for about a year and my hair is definitely not "fried".

Are you looking for a longer lasting dye?

It sounds to me like you're using a kit that contains bleach and the red color. Generally those don't last long and they do fry your hair. If you want a longer lasting red I'd check out Special Effects hairdye. That stuff lasts really long if you prebleach your hair which it sounds like you do. If you go with a darker shade and your hair is light enough (brown and lighter) you won't have to bleach your hair.

ok well, i have about shoulder length dark brown hair, my natural color is auburn, and i went about a month ago to have it died light brown, the person messed up and died it to a 2 (a shade lighter than black) i was so mad so i went to my friend, and she put this stuff on it called vanish and its mainly sulfur, wich lightened it to a light brown, orange, so she put shades on it to make it a warm brown. i HATE my hair so i went to sallys and bought extensions, and manic panic cotton candy pink dye, and 30 volume bleach. i made a coon tail, and now i want to bleach my hair. so i cut a little piece of my hair off and put in the bleach for over forty five minutes... not a thing happened???

You have a lot of semi permanent haircolor build up on your hair. Between the major build up from Shades EQ and Manic Panic, you might need to apply a color remover. Sally has Uncolor remover, you might want to try that, then recolor over top.

You have 3 - 4 layers of color on you hair. It's just the same as if you are painting a wall. 3 - 4 layers of paint doesn't remove that easily.

I would be a little hesitant to do this yourself, as you could really damage your hair. With so much product on it, already, you may just want to have a hairdresser do it, to ensure you don't break your hair off.

Although you applied bleach for 45 minutes, it could be that you need to mix up a fresh batch and reapply every 20 - 30 minutes to really remove the build up. Bleach can be left on the hair up to 90 minutes, however, it's not recommended if your hair is already damaged with so many color processes, especially with the sulfur product, be very careful.

hard to tell it could be you mixed the bleach wrong i would use 40 vol, and try another sample to make sure. If it does not work go see a stylist.... I'm very blond myself...

You need to go get it done professionally. The bleach you bought may not be strong enough to strip out the manic panic. I have been a stylist for 7 yrs and I'm well aware of how bad manic panic can be and it doesn't come out easy, you may end up with some realllllly damaged hair. Don't attempt it yourself!

oh man this sounds like a mess... do not use any thing round the house, and if you want to do a "test strand" slide cut a small section of hair in an inconspicuous place on the head and buy a home bleaching kit. apply using the box directions. keep in mine if you have a previous color on hair the bleach will lift patchy and will not look all that great. also do not bleach or color hair that has been exposed to the product SUN-IN it can cause major damage to hair and or melting. it is best to let a licensed hair stylist like me do it for you... sometimes it is just worth the money .

The 2nd chemical i put on will then help me basically scrape all the dye out of her hair." This is not in exact, but its saying hes going to take all the artificial chemicals or dye out and restoring her natural color. Now he showed us as he took what im sure what a fine toothed comb and brushed a large piece of her hair and voila! it was her natural brown color with absolutely no more red dye in her hair. Im wondering what he used to basically scrape all that color off her hair and returning it to her naturally beautiful brown hair. With a pale skintone you really want the dark hair because it offers a contrast...it's the same reason why blondes are obsessed about being tan...they want contrast between their skin and their hair. Just dye it all chocolate brown and leave it alone. I'm sure it'll look beautiful! As far as experimenting with colors, I'd get the snap-in colored extensions instead of dying the hair. It's healthier for your hair, and you can change them any time you want. Have fun!

Will it damage my hair if I were to dye a piece of my hair every 2 weeks? I normally bleach my hair which I know damages it so I didn't want to do anything that would damage it too much... all kinds of dye is chemical in that sense. unless u use henna dye for ur hair. so yes i would say it would still damage ur hair, but not as severely as bleach.

I was going to say static guard, but since that didnt work, try spraying it on your furniture etc, not just the coat. And if worst comes to worst, try a good lint roller, it'll get all the pet hair off at least.

No. I have the same problem. The only thing you can really do is to run over it quickly with a lint brush every time you wear it.
