Like not get layers but the first, say inch on either side be kinda shorter and angled down towards the rest of my hair length

Well I've done it before for a modeling postion and it looks really cool in my case it makes my hair look longer in the back and if you don't like hair getting in your face it's great.

don't do anything to it if its short, let it grow because when it gets longer you have more choices on how to make it look pretty. leave it alone.
