Hair Dye Problem PLEASE HELP ME!?

Ok I highlighted my hair (blonde) %26amp; now want to go an all over dark brown (I'm naturally a light brown)...

I've been told that I have to dye the highlighted areas a chestnut to make it a dark brown is that true?.....

Because its gonna be hard to dye just a few pieces of my hair!...

My sister has naturally medium brown hair, and then highlighted some pieces blonde, but did not like how it looked. To fix it we dyed all her hair another shade of medium brown, and the highlighted pieces blended right in and didn't look any different from the rest of the hair.

i honestly dont think that it would matter at all. so u think u should just dye all ur hair- im not a pro at dyeing or anything thats just my opinion.

you would have to dye the pieces that are highlighted a darker color otherwise you will have different colored highlights after u dye your own hair...if you still want the highlighted look then just dye ur whole head the color you want, if not then you will have to make the highlights darker...

Do you really wan 'n' answer ?

You DO need to put some red back into the highlighted areas, but you can do it with an all over colour! Just make sure the colour you use mentions something like copper, red, any form of red really!

I don't think so. You should just dye it all or pick a shade that will work with the highlights. It shouldn't matter. Hope that helps!

If the blonde highlights are in good condition they should just blend in, otherwise they might have a reddish tint to them.

you need to add a chesnut colour (or summat with red) if not it will do a crappy greeny brown colour. the red from chesnut or a dark red softens the tone to the brown you will be putting on

Hair Dye Problem PLEASE HELP ME!?

you need to get a dye that is a shade ethier darker than your natural colour and apply all over. please do not use a colour stripper this ruins your hair

If the highlighted is hair is a pale blonde, then it might run the risk of turning greenish, if the dye you put on it has any ash tones in it. Sometimes you have to replace the red undertones in order to match the color you are dyeing it.

I've just gone from having highlighted hair to an all over brown. The hairdresser put a light brown on first which dulled the blonde down, then put a reddy/brown over which made it look rich and healthy.

My highlights did start showing through after a few washes, but they looked liked natural highlights. Just had my hair done a second time where i've had a chesnut colour through and it looks fab!

i had the same problem except im a natural blonde and i had low lites put in but then wanted to go back to all over blonde. if i was u i would give ur hair a few washes using vosen shampoo it will help strip the blonde colour out of ur hair . then just use ur natural shade dye as usual even if it does mean that the streaks u had blonde are a little different to the rest of ur hair it will look more natural but if ur not happy with it id do it again im no expert so dont take my word for it ha ha but ive been evry colour under the sun and i aint ever turned out with a nitemare hair colour so good luck and let me know how u get on .

You can dye your hair all over dark brown. I've been dying my hair since I was 18 I am now 42. I went from every color imaginable, from platinum blonde to black, I never had any problem dying it one color from the blonde to brown. But one thing you should keep in mind....start the dark dye on your streaks first then wait 2-3 minutes then apply to the rest of your hair. Use a shampoo that's safe for dyed hair or if oyu have the store bought hair dye, there should be a conditioner that comes along with it. Your hair must be clean 24 hrs before you apply hair dye, the dye won't take to your hair is

dirty.

Have fun

It should be fine to put the colour on all over. The highlighted sections may take slightly lighter and may throw the colour off a bit after a while. It depends on how processed the highlights are.

If the highlights aren't too light then chances are it still has some gold tone in it and therefore there is no need to add anymore to it. If it is quite light then you are risking it going a bit ashy.

It might be wise to get a dark red brown to be on the safe side at first. You could then just go for the dark brown the next time you redo it and you've repleced the gold/red tone already.
